Richard Lucas of Swaffield [sic],
Lincs, (cleric) owes Will Clay of Bourne, Lincs, gentleman £20 to be paid with
interest on 27 December 1730.
Witnesses, John Caldecott and Thos Mason.
This document is unusual among the Clay
papers in being drawn on a printed pro
forma. It is normal in having three 6d. revenue
stamps embossed into the paper.
