The Parliamentary Gazetteer’s Summary of Witham on the Hill, 1843.


Witham-on-the-Hill, a parish in the wapentake of Beltisloe, union of Bourn, parts of Kesteven, county of Lincoln ; 4¼ miles south-west of Bourne. It contains the hamlets of Manthorpe, and Toft with Lound. Living, a vicarage in the archd. and dio. of Lincoln ; rated at £6 1s. 0½d. ; gross income £107. Tithes commuted in 1813. Patron, in 1841, General Johnson. The Wesleyan Methodists have a place of worship here. In 1833 here was 1 daily school with and endowment. Acres 4,210. Houses 108. A. P. £3,631. Pop., in 1801, 353 ; in 1831, 540. Poor rates, in 1838, £105 12s.
