Old Grammar School, Bourne. Seventeenth and Eighteenth century brickwork.

The original building was erected a little before 1636. It was partially demolished in 1736, when the two gable walls were retained while the eaves walls were replaced. That on the east front was rebuilt on a slightly different site but the western one, here, is on the old plinth. The two courses of limestone are eighteenth century. The difference in the brickwork between the seventeenth and eighteenth century work is illustrated here, the former having been left between the quoins to support the northern gable wall. Between the corner of the window and the quoin, a modern repair has been made.
